Melissa MacBride

Melissa MacBride is a general assignment reporter for ABC7 Eyewitness News.

She was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Wisconsin-Madison. Melissa got her start in front of the camera while studying broadcast journalism and political science. WISC, the CBS affiliate, chose her for a full-time, paid, on-air reporting internship. After graduation, Melissa went on to report for KDLT in Sioux Falls, SD and was promoted to anchor the station's weekend newscasts. Her coverage of a deadly tornado helped her land her next job reporting and anchoring for WTVQ in Lexington, KY.

In 2001, Melissa made her way to the West Coast to report for KRON in San Francisco and joined the Eyewitness News Team in 2002.

Melissa has covered the major wildfires in Southern California in the last decade, the mudslides in La Canada-Flintridge and Sierra Madre, the deaths of former President Reagan and President Ford and the Michael Jackson child molestation case.

In her free time, Melissa enjoys snowboarding, indoor cycling, running and waterskiing. She's also learning to surf.
