Santa Monica Pier Twilight Dance Series - free concerts

Pack a picnic basket and blanket and find a spot on the beach to sit back and enjoy a free concert at the Santa Monica Pier. Past performances have included Los Lobos, Patti Smith, Joan Baez, Ben Lee, as well as international world music performances. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday nights from June through September. Brand X Santa Monica Drive-in Movies

Head to the Santa Monica Pier for their Annual Brand X Santa Monica Drive-In. Movies are every Friday in June. All screenings are free and take place on the Pier Parking Deck at 8:30 p.m. with booths, giveaways and fun starting at 7:30 p.m. Log on to www.santamonicapier.org for more information.

Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race and Ocean Festival

The world-famous Santa Monica Pier and the Honolua Surf Co. will kick off the summer of 2011 with the Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race and Ocean Festival, featuring paddleboard races, dory competitions, outrigger canoes, live music and a surfing, lifeguard and paddleboard Museum for the Day.

The all-day event takes place Saturday, June 11, 2011 and is a benefit for Santa Monica-based Heal the Bay and its public marine education facility, the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.
