Space shuttle Endeavour flies over LA area

The space shuttle Endeavour is on its way back to the L.A. area for a flyover tour across many iconic SoCal destinations.

Strapped atop a modified Boeing 747, the shuttle is set to take off from Edwards Air Force Base at 8:15 a.m. PT.

It soared over the Antelope Valley before heading up north to Sacramento and San Francisco. It will then come back down to fly over some of Southern California's most iconic landmarks including the Getty Center, City Hall, Griffith Park, Universal Studios and Disneyland.

It will also pass by the California Science Center, where it will soon be put on display. The shuttle will land at Los Angeles International Airport around 1 p.m.
