LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Free Thanksgiving meals will be served to those in need this holiday in a variety of locations in Southern California Thursday.
Here is a list of some events being held across the Southland:
The Fred Jordan Mission's annual Thanksgiving banquet
The Fred Jordan Mission expects to serve turkey dinners to more than 2,000 homeless men, women and children on Skid Row Thursday. The mission is making some 3,000 pounds of turkey, 80 gallons of gravy, hundreds of pounds of green beans, yams and plenty of pumpkin pie. The meal starts at 10:00 a.m. http://www.fjm.org/
The Midnight Mission's annual Thanksgiving Street Festival
The Midnight Mission is also serving Thanksgiving meals on Skid Row. About 200 volunteers, as well as actors Dick Van Dyke and Anthony Hopkins, are expected to help out. The mission is expecting to serve over 2,000 people. http://www.midnightmission.org/
The 33rd annual Thanksgiving-In-The-Park
It's the 33rd annual Thanksgiving-In-The-Park in Pasadena. The Union Station Homeless Services group will serve meals to the needy at Pasadena's Central Park at 11 a.m. http://www.unionstationhs.org/dinners_in_the_park.html
Thanksgiving at The Laugh Factory
The Laugh Factory in West Hollywood will provide free Thanksgiving meals for the underprivileged, "struggling and/or lonely" comics, actors, writers, directors, others in the entertainment community and anyone who is alone for the holidays. The Laugh Factory is located at 8001 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood.http://www.laughfactory.com/
Free Thanksgiving Dinner at the Honda Center
Casa Garcia is serving up thousands of Thanksgiving meals at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Organizers expect to feed 20,000 people. For the past 22 years, La Casa Garcia Restaurant and We Give Thanks, Inc have been serving free turkey dinners to those in need in the Orange County area. Many Ducks players will be on hand to help give out food. The feast is free and runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Honda Center is located at 2695 E. 9th annual Feed the Hungry Thanksgiving Feast
Temple Beth Hillel in Valley Village will serve Thanksgiving meals for the ninth year in a sit-down restaurant style meal, to about 800 people, including families and individuals supported by area homeless shelters and food banks. Miracle on 6th Street Free Thanksgiving Dinner
Miracle on 6th Street is hosting its 7th annual free Thanksgiving dinner in Norco. Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Silverado Burgers, located at 1091 6th Street in Norco. http://miracleon6thstreet.org
Westside Thanksgiving Celebration
The Westside Thanksgiving Celebration at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium is open to everyone. Guests will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. The Vision Project and the Westside Thanksgiving Day Dinner Committee will also provide the homeless with flu shots and basic medical care, eye drops, glasses, clothing, blankets and haircuts. The turkey feast will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium is located at 1855 Main St. http://www.westsidethanksgiving.org
