Ty Pennington talks 'Extreme Makeover' finale

Thursday, January 12, 2012

After nine seasons, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is heading to its final reveal, and the show is going out in a big way.

Ty Pennington and the crew from "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" have lent their expertise, their muscles and their hearts to more than 200 "rebuilds" over the course of the show's nine seasons.

"'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' is the greatest job I have ever been given," Pennington said.

To end things on a high note, the crew went to extremes, building seven homes in seven days in the tornado-ravaged community of Joplin, Missouri.

The makeover experts have traveled to all 50 states over the course of the show, and have relied of the kindness of tens of thousands of volunteers to help spread their goodwill.

"We've changed people's lives, and in the process, my own life has been changed because you realize one that life is unexpected, you don't know what's coming," Pennington said.

Pennington will still be part of the ABC family as part of the panel of experts on the new daytime show "The Revolution."

"It's about people making that change and knowing that at the end of the week or at the end of their journey, that they are the people they've always wanted to be because they've done it themselves," he said. "It's a whole new kind of change, and it's something that I'm really excited about."

"The Revolution" begins on Monday. The two-hour finale of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" airs Friday at 8 p.m. on ABC7.
