Money contributes to men's infidelity

CORNELL, NY (KABC) -- Men who make less money than their female partners are more likely to cheat according to a new study from Cornell University.

Researchers at Cornell's Department of Sociology examined the role of economic dependency on infidelity and found that it is often correlated.

Researchers suggested that men who make less than their partners may be more likely to cheat because it challenges traditional notions of gender identity and threatens their masculinity.

However, they also found that relationships in which the female partner is very financially dependant on the man are also correlated with higher incidents of infidelity. This could be because the man is more likely to be working long hours and spending time away from home travelling.
