Bear caught on tape trying to rescue cub from trash bin in Azusa

AZUSA, Calif. (KABC) -- A mama bear was caught on video franticly trying to free her cub who was stuck in a trash container in Azusa.

The cub was trapped in a Dumpster near Highway 39 at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. The mama bear sat on top of the trash bin, shaking it in an attempt to open the lid.

State Fish and Wildlife officials responded to the scene, using their lights and sirens to scare the mama bear and another cub away.

When they opened the lid, the trapped cub quickly climbed out and was reunited with its family.
