Trampolines sold at Wal-Mart recalled due to fall hazard

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Trampolines exclusively sold at Wal-Mart were recalled due to a possible falling hazard for children.

About 92,000 units of Sportspower BouncePro 14-foot Trampolines are involved in the voluntary recall. The safety issue concerns the brown 6-foot netting that surrounds the trampoline, which is meant to keep the jumpers on the trampoline without falling out.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says the netting can break, allowing children to fall through and be injured.

Sportspower has received 17 reports of the net breaking, resulting in 11 injuries including broken bones, back and neck injuries and contusions.

The recalled trampolines have UPC codes 68706404210 and 68706404244, which are printed on the trampoline box. Also, the items have "Sportspower BouncePro 14'" and "TR-14-63-A" printed on a plate on the leg of the trampoline frame.

The items, which were made in China, were sold at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from February 2009 through February 2012 for about $275 apiece.

Consumers were advised to stop using the trampolines and contact Sportspower to receive replacement netting.
