Chrysler recalls 2013 Dodge Challengers over fire risk

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Chrysler has issued a recall of some 2013 Dodge Challengers because of a wire harness that can overheat and lead to fires.

The automaker is telling nearly 2,500 owners of Challengers equipped with V-6 engines to stop driving them now. Owners should not park the cars in a garage or near a structure until the problem can be fixed.

The recall affects close to 4,500 Challengers, but nearly half of them are still on dealer lots. The cars were made during an eight-week period that ended Jan. 24.

There have been seven incidents, none of which led to injuries.

Chrysler is notifying owners by telephone and mail and will provide loaner cars until repairs are made. Customers should contact dealers with any questions.
