DETROIT (KABC) -- Suzuki has recalled 193,936 cars and SUVS because of air bag problems.
The recall affects Grand Vitara SUVs made from the 2006 through 2011 model years and SX4 small cars from the 2007 through 2011 model years.
The company says the sensor mats can stop working after repeated flexing and deploy even if a small person is in the front passenger seat.
Suzuki will reprogram the front passenger air bag sensors so they will accurately measure passengers' weight and determine if the air bag should deploy.
No reports of accidents or injuries have been reported due to the problem.
The automaker said owners of affected vehicles will get a notification letter in the mail next month. Suzuki dealers will replace mats for free.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
