Harry Potter Exhibit opens this weekend

  

BOSTON (KABC) -- The world of Harry Potter is about to cast a spell over the city of Boston.

On Sunday, Harry Potter: The Exhibition opens at the Museum of Science, Boston.

The 10,000-square-foot exhibition features more than 200 authentic props and costumes from the Harry Potter films, all of which will be displayed in settings inspired by the film sets. Those include Great Hall, Hagrid's hut, the Gryffindor common room.

Film artifacts including Harry's signature glasses, the Marauder's Map, and Hermione's Yule Ball gown will also be available for viewing.

The Museum of Science, Boston is the only New England venue to host the exhibition and the second venue worldwide. The exhibition made its debut in Chicago.

"Offering an exclusive look at some of the most iconic artifacts and scenic elements from the beloved films, the Museum of Science in Boston will certainly become the hub of excitement for Harry Potter fans when it arrives this October," said Karen McTier, Executive Vice President, Domestic Licensing and Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products, in a statement.

Harry Potter: The Exhibition will run in Boston through February 21, 2010. It has been in Chicago since April. There's no word yet on where the exhibition will go after Boston.
