Outrageous outfits and fiery performances dominated the American Music Awards telecast, but in the end, a young singer and a sentimental favorite came out the victors for the 37th annual ceremony.

Taylor Swift is having one big November. The 19-year-old country sweetheart was the big winner two weeks ago at Country Music Awards. Sunday night, she also had the most wins at the American Music Awards taking home five trophies.

But it was also a big night for Michael Jackson. The late King of Pop won four prizes at the 37th Annual American Music Awards for his "Number Ones" album.

But Taylor Swift topped him, going five for five, including winning the top trophy of the night, Artist of the Year. She accepted her award from London, where she's on tour.

Michael's brother, Jermaine, accepted the honors on his late brother's behalf, and he spoke with the press after the show saying he thought his brother would be proud.

"It's not about the award, about the message, and um my brother my family we try to install the right morals and principles and words, to enlighten, entertain, inspire, that's what this family has done since day one, something to change the minds of people in a positive way," said Jermaine.

"Saluting Michael Jackson is always a great thing. He paved the way. There will never be anyone as magical," said Paula Abdul.

"Everything about him was about love and kindness. He was an incredible person," said Jermaine.

"We miss him tremendously and will continue, but his music and his message will live on forever," he added.

Jermaine represented his brother in the press room Sunday night. He was only one of a very few winners who opted to talk about their victories.
