First lady Michelle Obama appears on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' campaigns at Will Smith's home

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Michelle Obama was in Southern California Thursday for a campaign fundraiser at Will and Jada Pinkett Smith's home and an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

On the late-night talk show, the first lady encouraged people to vote early. She voted early a few weeks ago. She also talked about the challenges of being a mom in the White House. Her appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" came a day after President Barack Obama was a guest on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

Meanwhile, Mr. Obama made history Thursday evening, becoming the first president ever to vote before Election Day.

"I can't tell you who I'm voting for, it's a secret ballot," he joked with a crowd of supporters. "But Michelle says she's voting for me."

Ann Romney also hit the campaign trail in Florida to court the women's vote.

"I will tell you this about Mitt: He will always make decisions and he will always decide what's best for America," she said.

Her husband continues to campaign in nearly must win Ohio.

"He hasn't been able to find a plan, he hasn't been able to define what he is going to do to make America strong going forward. I have," he said of the president.

Romney barely leads national tracking polls but is trailing the president by five points in Ohio. The president continues to crisscross the country and picked up support once again from Colin Powell, President George W. Bush's secretary of state.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" airs weekdays at midnight on ABC7.
