'Sandlot' actor Thomas Guiry arrested for head-butting police officer

HOUSTON (KABC) -- Actor Thomas Guiry, better known as "Smalls" from the cult classic movie "The Sandlot," was arrested in Houston last weekend for head-butting a police officer.

The incident happened at a Houston airport. According to police, United Airlines employees reported an unruly passenger whom they said was too drunk to board the plane.

The responding officer confronted Guiry and said he could avoid going to jail if he agreed to go to a sobering center. Police say the actor refused and then resisted arrest.

Police say while he was being restrained, Guiry head-butted the officer in the face.

The 32-year-old actor now faces a felony charge for assaulting a public servant.

Guiry has also had roles in "Mystic River" and "Black Hawk Down" among numerous film and TV credits.
