ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- Disney's D23 Expo kicked off Friday morning. It's kind of like the Disney equivalent of Comic-Con, where fans of all things Disney converge on the Anaheim Convention Center for three days of family-friendly fun.
Attendees of the ultimate Disney fan event will get to go behind the scenes and take a look at Disney's past and future.
"So you'll get a peek into our new animation. You'll get a peek into our new live-action movies. You'll get a chance to interact with some of the Disney Channel stars and see what they're up to," said Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger. "You'll take a look at what we're building at our theme parks and what theme parks we're building from our great 'imagineers.' There is something for everyone here, and I think there's a lot to be excited about."
"Our fans are our most important asset. They're the ones who keep the Disney legacy alive and the spirit of Disney alive, and we want to celebrate that here," said Disney Vice President of Corporate Communications Steven Clark.
Heather Nishioka, aka Snow White, loves the whole feel of the expo.
"It's like being a kid in a candy store," said Nishioka. "It puts Mickey and the princesses all in one place, and you can just check out and be all things Disney for a weekend. It's absolutely fantastic."
The folks at Disney Channel's "Phineas and Ferb" are celebrating its "waffle-in-ator."
"It's a 40-foot-high video screen where you actually shoot the waffles at the screen to help Phineas and Ferb save Agent P by defeating Doofensmertz," said Swampy Marsh, creator and executive producer of "Phineas and Ferb."
There are plenty of draws, including animation in action from the pros and perhaps some of Disney's future animators.
The D23 Expo runs through Sunday. For more information, visit www.d23.com.
