Disney Animated iPad app brings classics, technology together

Sunday, August 11, 2013

From Snow White's creation in 1937 to Disney's latest animation film "Frozen" coming out in November, the new Disney Animated iPad app gives users an inside look at the art and technology that brings these stories to life.

"You're going to hold all of the magic of Disney animation in your hand, and with more than 90 years of animated history condensed into an iPad app," described Mark Walker, senior vice president of Disney Interactive.

The app, which covers all 53 animated films, contains more than 750 interactive illustrations from the Walt Disney Studio archives - some images and footage have never been seen before.

What makes the experience so unique is that every image is touchable, which brings each one to life.

"The principal thing that we wanted to do is tell the story of animation and the animation process in a way that builds an appreciation for really the tsunami of human effort that goes into the production of an animated film," said Walker.

Disney is offering the premium iPad app for $13.99.

Company officials say it offers an unprecedented hands-on experience of Disney's magic - something all generations can enjoy.

Disney is the parent company of ABC7.
