Genes identified for bipolar disorder?

A just released study has identified two genes that may play a key role in a person's risk for developing bipolar disorder.

Researchers say the genes influence the activity of nerve cells in the brain. Bipolar disorder is marked by dramatic mood swings from depression to manic behavior.

Researchers don't expect the findings to lead to a genetic test for bipolar disorder, but believe they could eventually lead to better approaches to diagnosis and treatment.
