C-section linked to higher asthma risk

  

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Researchers in Switzerland found children born by caesarean - or C-section - have a higher risk of asthma than children who are born naturally.

Scientists followed nearly 3,000 babies. More than 12 percent of those children had been diagnosed with asthma by age eight. Out of those, most were born by C-section.

One theory to explain the link is that birth by caesarean delays a baby's exposure to microbes.
