Diabetic population to double in 25 years

Friday, November 27, 2009

An alarming new study on diabetes reports the number of Americans with the illness will double in the next 25 years.

Even worse, the study says the cost of treating the diabetes will triple during that same time period.

The study was released by the University of Chicago.

Its authors say by the year 2034, 44 million Americans will be living with diabetes.

The study blames the increase on lifestyle, an aging population and high levels of obesity.
