Millions take acid reflux drugs, but if they're heart patients as well, doctors want them to hear this warning.
People who have heart attacks are often given blood thinners, like Plavix. They can reduce the chances of a second heart attack.
But taking acid reflux drugs as well, can pose a problem. New research shows acid reflux drugs - like Prevacid and Prilosec can interfere with blood thinners, making them less effective.
Some acid reflux drugs block a key enzyme that prevents Plavix from functioning properly.
