Kym Johnson attends special screening of Tinker Bell's 'Secret of the Wings'

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Tinker Bell is a familiar movie character, and "Dancing With The Stars" pro Kym Johnson loves her. Add in some fans who love Johnson, and you get something pretty great.

"Secret of the Wings" is Tinker Bell's latest adventure. Seeing the film was the latest adventure of the group Down Syndrome in Arts & Media.

"Sometimes they don't get all that in life, and so to be able to give them these opportunities is really special," said Gail Williamson with the group Down Syndrome in Arts & Media.

Johnson, who has taught dance to some of the group's members, was a special guest at the Disney screening.

"It's like we're being reunited together today, and it's really special," said Johnson. "They're my friends. I now have relationships with all of these kids, and it's really nice seeing them again."

Her joy was clearly contagious among the guests at the event.

"I adore Kym. She is a phenomenal lady," said one girl.

After the screening, the film's director, Peggy Holmes, surprised Johnson with a piece of art that turned the pro dancer into an official fairy of Pixie Hollow.

"It's just absolutely amazing, and yes, she's me," said Johnson.

Johnson plans to do more dance lessons or events about once a month. "Secret of the Wings" is available now on DVD.

Disney is the parent company of ABC7.
