Oscars host Seth MacFarlane to walk a fine line

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

The Oscar countdown hits four days and things are looking more and more official. Wednesday night, they started rolling out the red carpet.

Yards and yards of "red" were installed so the Oscar invitees will have a cushioned path along the entrance to the Dolby Theatre.

"It is impossible for me to have worked any harder than I have in preparation for this show," said Oscar host Seth MacFarlane.

MacFarlane is the face of this year's Oscars. He's been working on the show with producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan for five months now. Together they plan to turn this year's telecast into a showstopper, one segment at a time.

"It's funny: The Oscar audience is the polar opposite of the college audience," said MacFarlane. "It's probably the toughest audience out there. So if you're too soft they're not going to give you much. If you're too hard on them, they're going to gasp and turn on you, so I expect to have them hating me within the first 30 seconds."

This year's show will be packed with movie music and movie stars coming together to celebrate what they do best.

Inside tip: Don't expect a typical Oscar ending this year.
