MALIBU -- A lone pilot who lost engine power near Point Mugu ditched his plane in the ocean today and was rescued in good condition after being in the water for about an hour, authorities said.
The pilot left from Camarillo and reported engine trouble about 10:50 a.m., said Donn Walker of the Federal Aviation Administration. Minutes later, the single-engine Citabria went down about 7 nautical miles off Point Mugu, Walker said.
A U.S. Coast Guard crew pulled the pilot from the water in good condition.
