Carson, August 30, 2006 (KABC) -- A gas leak is discovered at a local school and with classes set to begin Tuesday crews are scrambling to fix the problem.
The leak was found under the playground of Del Amo Elementary School in Carson.
Crews have ripped up the asphalt and are now digging a trench in an attempt to clear out the gas.
Apparently, the pipe has been leaking for years. Last term, teachers and students complained repeatedly about the odor.
