HARBOR CITY, May 24, 2007 (KABC-TV) (KABC) -- An alligator believed to be "Reggie" was caught in Harbor City on Thursday.
Councilwoman Janice Hahn says the alligator was corralled by park rangers, fire crews and park workers. She said they jumped on the alligator and captured it. The alligator was captured around 3:30 Thursday afternoon.
The fire department contained the alligator. The alligator was transferred to the L.A. Zoo. It is estimated to be seven feet long.
Reggie the alligator was spotted in April at Machado Lake in Harbor City.
Before that, it had been more than a year since he was last seen.
Several gator wranglers had tried unsuccessfully to catch Reggie after he was illegally dumped in the water.
