July 19, 2007 (KABC-TV) (KABC) -- The LAPD has announced a $50,000-dollar reward for information on the two burglary suspects in west L.A. Surveillance photos of the suspects were provided by the residents themselves.
Along with the jewelry, the suspects have taken cash as well. What they have stolen so far adds up to millions of dollars.
West L.A. Division detectives of the LAPD want the public to study resident surveillance video from one of the homes hit late last year. The suspects are two big guys, over six-feet-tall and stalky, weighing between 200- to 250-pounds.
The suspects, according to the police, hit on the weekends prior to midnight. No one has been home at the time of a burglary.
Police will not say how the two suspects are getting into the homes. But they say that they have taken strictly cash and jewelry.
According to detectives, most burglaries happen on the west side.
"This series has gone on for over a year," said Lt. Ray Lombardo of the LAPD. "I will say this -- that the number of burglaries are over 50. The majority of those are in the west L.A. area of Brentwood and Bel Air; and to a lesser extent, Hollywood; and to an even lesser extent, West Valley Division."
"They are a two-man hillside crime wave," said Jack Weiss of the L.A. City Council. "They are quick-hit artists. But when we get this information, their ID, their photos, out to the public, I think we're going to make a quick hit on them. Because these guys undoubtedly have been living large on the loot they have been taking from these hillside homes."
If have you any information on the two hillside burglary suspects, you are urged to contact the LAPD West Los Angeles Division at (310) 444-1566.
The reward is $50,000 for the arrest and the conviction of the two burglary suspects.
