Suspected Bank Robber Shot to Death by L.A. Police

Friday, August 10, 2007

A suspected bank robber was shot to death Thursday by police as she left a Bank of America branch in the San Fernando Valley, authorities said.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, was shot when she confronted police officers outside the door of the bank in the city's Sylmar section at 12:40 p.m., police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The robber had pulled a gun on a woman and used her to walk through the lobby, Deputy Chief Mike Moore said.

Fifteen people, including five bank employees, were inside the branch in the northeast corner of the San Fernando Valley when the holdup happened.

One person was treated for a scrapped knee. Police couldn't say if the person was an employee or customer.
