Sept. 1, 2007 (KABC-TV) (KABC) -- Longtime Los Angeles philanthropist Robert Ahmanson died Saturday, at the age of 80.
It was through his generosity and support that the Ahmanson Theatre in Downtown L.A. came to be.
Friends of the family say Ahmanson was also a major supporter of UCLA and the Thalians Mental Health Center.
Funeral arrangements are still being made.
