SEPULVEDA DAM RECREATION AREA (KABC) (KABC) -- Time is running out for wildlife experts attempting save the life of a wounded pelican.
The American White Pelican has an arrow through its beak. It's been spotted at Lake Balboa in the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area, but no one's been able to get close.
Officials say the arrow sealed the bird's mouth shut so it's unable to eat. They're afraid it will die unless the arrow's removed and it's given food and fluids.
Officials also hope a serial number on the arrow will help track down the person who shot it.
