Palmdale body identified as teen girl

PALMDALE (CNS) -- Authorities Tuesday identified a 13-year-old girl whose body was discovered in a remote area of Palmdale.

The victim -- identified by the coroner's office as Stevona Campbell of Palmdale -- was discovered about 6:45 a.m. Monday near Avenue P and 50th Street East, said Deputy Byron Ward of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

An autopsy was pending to determine the cause of death, said Ed Winter, assistant chief of the coroner's office. Anyone with more information about the case was urged to call the sheriff's department.
