The Eurochopter AS-350 chopper had just left from Long Beach for a sightseeing trip when it went down at about 9:30 a.m. on the west end of the island near the Banning House Lodge.
The helicopter was operated by Long Beach-based Island Express.
One of the company's pilots was killed instantly along with a man and a woman. Their names have not yet been released.
