CASTAIC, Calif. (KABC) -- As many as 150 inmates were involved in a riot at the Peter Pitchess Detention Center in Santa Clarita.
According to L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy Ed Hernandez said a fight broke out in a dormitory at approximately 2 p.m. Friday.
The facility was on lockdown until authorities could fully control the situation.
Multiple ambulances were on scene Friday afternoon. It was not clear how many people were injured.
Fire department crews set up a triage area. The department reported 93 of approximately 150 inmates had been checked.
One patient complained of chest pains and was transported to a hospital.
One deputy suffered an injury to his hand when he tried to launch a flash-bang grenade. He was also transported to a local hospital.
