Thursday, August 25, 2011

A city worker is shot several times while in his own home. Toledo police say the victim's wife found him near the back door.

Investigators say it happened Thursday morning around 6:45 in the 1800 block of Giant. Toledo police say the 43-year-old man was rushed to Toledo hospital and taken into surgery. No word on his condition.

Police are trying to piece together what happened. People who live in the 1800 block of giant street woke up to police officers with guns drawn in their neighborhood

"I just got off of work turning on to my street and cut off by a couple of police men undercover and new something was wrong"

Officers were racing to this home. "They tried to enter through the front couldn't they entered through the back and took Tommy away with an obvious injury"

Toledo police say someone shot Tommy Butts multiple times inside his home. They say he was shot in the basement and somehow made his way up the stairs to the back door

"Found outside just outside his door almost found by his wife shot several times appears he was shot inside the house and was leaving the residence when he collapsed" <p. The victim's wife was home when the shots were fired "She indicated she just heard him screaming did not hear the shots"

Neighbors describe the couple as quiet "Just not the kind of person or people I would have the police knocking on their door"
