Woman arrested in fatal Ontario shooting; motive unknown

An Ontario woman is facing murder charges after fatally shooting a 49-year-old man in a retail business parking lot.

Ontario police responded to a call of a shooting on the 2200 block of South Euclid Avenue around 2:06 p.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 49-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local area hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Patricia Gonzalez DeReynaga, 36, of Ontario, was identified as the suspect. Officers arrested her at her residence in the 300 block of East Philadelphia Street without further incident.

DeReynaga was booked for murder at West Valley Detention Center.

The motive for the crime remains under investigation.
