MALIBU, Calif. (KABC) -- Water regulators in Malibu are set to vote on a measure that would outlaw septic tanks for the scenic city.
There has been long-running debate over septic tanks in Malibu.
The alternative would be sewers, a dirty word for many, because it could encourage large development projects that cannot be sustained by septic tanks.
The vote by the Regional Water Quality Board comes as environmentalists say leaks from septic tanks leach into the Malibu soil, and eventually into the Pacific Ocean.
