ABC7 reporter 'Captain Ron' passes away

  

GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- We're very sad to tell you about the death of a member of the Eyewitness News family, Captain Ron Bodholt.

Captain Ron was the first helicopter reporter at ABC7. Before joining our news operation, Captain Ron was a decorated Vietnam helicopter pilot. He was also the first pilot with military training to fly for the L.A. County Sheriff's Department and earned the department's Medal of Valor.

Captain Ron died this weekend after a long illness. He was 63 years old.
