BURBANK, Calif. (KABC) -- Burbank police have arrested a man for fatally shooting a woman in an upscale neighborhood.
The woman was found shot to death Wednesday morning near the front door of her home in an upscale Burbank neighborhood.
Authorities were scouring the block looking for clues on Wednesday.
At about 8 p.m. on Wednesday, police arrested 29-year-old Armen Mangasaryan in Burbank. Mangasaryan was arrested for murder and is being held without bail.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 27.
Police say the 48-year-old woman was shot in the front doorway to the home she rented on the 4200 block of West Jacaranda Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. Investigators say the victim's boyfriend was home during the time of the shooting.
"He was the one that called 911. So we're talking to him. He is not a suspect. We don't want to give that indication," said Sgt. Robert Quesada, Burbank Police Department.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.
Residents can't believe something like this happened in their neighborhood.
"It doesn't make any sense," said neighbor Laura Cano. "I mean how can anything happen like that up the street here when it's so quiet and people here just tend to their business, and just lead a normal life."
Authorities are trying to figure out if the woman was the intended target of the shooting.
"We're asking for the public's help right now. If somebody was out maybe walking, jogging, they saw a vehicle driving away. We appreciate anything," added Sgt. Quesada.
Anyone with information is urged to call Burbank police at (818) 238-3241.
