Award to honor killed Angels pitcher

Monday, June 22, 2009

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim is honoring a fallen pitcher, who was killed in a suspected drunk driving crash, with a special award.

The team has set up the Pitcher of the Year award in Nick Adenhart's memory.

The award will be given to the Angels pitcher whose performance over the season is considered the most outstanding.

Adenhart was killed by an alleged drunk driver back on April 9 in Fullerton.

Two of his friends also died in the crash.

The suspect, driver Andrew Gallo, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder.
