Vote to speed design of new MLK hospital

Wednesday, November 04, 2009

The L.A. County Board of Supervisors voted on Tuesday to fast-track the design of the new Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Center in the hopes of receiving federal funding.

Design work on the new center had been postponed pending a decision by the University of California Board of Regents. The board is considering whether UCLA can partner with the county in managing the hospital.

The board will take up the issue at its next meeting, which is scheduled for Nov. 19.
