Sewage fine cut for Malibu mobile home park

Thursday, November 19, 2009

A Malibu mobile home park that dumped 2,000 gallons of sewage into the ocean won't have to pay as high a fine as originally proposed.

Paradise Cove was hit with a $1.65 million fine in February for dumping sewage into the ocean and local creeks.

But the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board realized they failed to issue a cease-and-desist order first. On Tuesday, the board lowered the fine to $54,500.

The decision can be appealed to the state water board.
