Woman hurt, dog killed in pit bull attack

Saturday, June 19, 2010

An unprovoked pit bull attack in Panorama City left a woman injured and her dog dead.

Katherine Keith says she was out with her dogs for their usual morning walk near Roscoe Boulevard and Coldwater Canyon Avenue when she noticed two pit bulls across the street.

Suddenly, one of those pit bulls crossed the street and attacked her 11-year-old maltie, Precious.

Two neighbors helped Keith pull the pit bull off her dog.

"I wasn't afraid, I was just trying to get her, get the mouth of my dog," Keith said. "It was clamped down and my dog was screaming and it was horrible. Blood was gushing everywhere."

Keith suffered injuries to her hands and right arm. She says the pit bulls do not belong to anyone in the neighborhood.

Witnesses say both dogs were caught.
