Man wanted for sexual assault in Castaic

Friday, August 13, 2010

Detectives identified a suspect in a sexual assault in Castaic using DNA evidence and need the public's help locating him.

Authorities said 45-year-old Eugene Lee Upshaw asked the victim for a ride in August 2009. She agreed to do it if he bought her a bottle of alcohol.

After getting a bottle, investigators say he drove the woman from the market to a remote area outside Castaic where he raped her.

He has been charged with numerous felonies, including kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.

Authorities said Upshaw may be responsible for similar crimes in other states. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
