Expo Line train crash in downtown LA leaves 6 injured

  

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Six people were injured in a collision involving an Expo Line test train and a car in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday.

The crash happened about 4:20 p.m. on Flower Street near Venice Boulevard.

Officials said three of the injured were taken to California Hospital Medical Center and two were taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. Los Angeles Fire Department crews worked quickly to rescue a sixth person from the car, which had its rear end wedged under the train. It's not known where the victim was transported to.

The cause of the crash was not yet known.

Major delays were expected. Bus shuttles were running between 7th Street and the Metro and Grand stations.

The test train is part of a new Metro line that will open this spring and travel from downtown to Culver City. It will eventually extend to Santa Monica.
