Ex-LAUSD substitute teacher sues over firing after anti-Semitic comments

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A former Los Angeles Unified substitute teacher is suing the school district after she was fired for making anti-Semitic comments at an Occupy L.A. rally.

Patricia McAllister is claiming the dismissal violated her First Amendment right to free speech. The Rutherford Institute, a conservative legal nonprofit, said Wednesday that it sued on McCallister's behalf.

She was fired last October after she was videotaped saying that "Zionist Jews" were running the Federal Reserve and banks and needed to be removed.

LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy at the time said the district wouldn't stand for intolerant and discriminatory behavior by employees even though she was off duty.
