EAST LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Sheriff's investigators say a suspect has been detained in connection to a kidnapping attempt in East Los Angeles.
The incident happened on Miller Avenue near City Terrace Drive at about 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
A 6-year-old boy told investigators he was on the sidewalk in front of his house when a man pushing a shopping cart offered him some candy. When the boy went to take the candy, the suspect grabbed his shirt, pulling him close.
The boy got away and ran inside to tell his grandmother. By the time she went outside, the man was gone.
The man was described as being between 30 and 50 years old with gray hair and a gray beard.
The suspect who was detained was not identified.
