North Hollywood man accused of killing his own parents

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 25-year-old North Hollywood man is behind bars, accused of murdering his own parents.

Police were first called to a Sun Valley neighborhood Friday afternoon. That's where they found 47-year-old Veronica Mercado dead inside a car on Webb Avenue.

Officers then went to the woman's North Hollywood home, where they found her husband, Alexandro Mercado, also dead.

Early Saturday morning, LAPD detectives arrested the couple's son, Jonathan Mercado. He is being held on $2 million bail. So far, detectives have not given a motive.
