SUN VALLEY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man and woman sitting at a Sun Valley bus stop bench were critically hurt when a car slammed into them on Saturday.
Investigators said the two were seated on the bench at the southeast corner of Sheldon Street at San Fernando Road when they were hit by a Chevrolet Camaro at about 10:30 a.m.
According to police, there were three people inside the car, two of which ran from the scene. A box of beer fell from the car.
"The driver and the front passenger fled the scene on foot," said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Howard Choy. "We were actually able to catch them over there about two blocks away."
Choy said they were both detained and the driver was going to be booked for felony DUI. One of the suspects was taken into custody at the scene.
Officials said the injuries to the victims were non-life threatening.
