Santa Monica jogger assaulted; suspect on the loose

Police need the public's help finding a suspect who sexually assaulted a woman who was jogging along the beach in Santa Monica.

Authorities say the man chased the woman down in the 800 block of Palisades Beach Road and attacked her at about 4:50 a.m. Wednesday. The victim fought throughout the assault and was able to break free and run toward Pacific Coast Highway.

The suspect, who was last seen walking northbound from the area, was described as a white male, about 30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches with a thin muscular build. He has short, dark brown hair and a full beard.
