CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Some San Fernando Valley residents are dealing with the aftermath of a pair of water main breaks.
The first, and most serious, was reported around midnight Monday in Porter Ranch near Bermuda Street and Chimineas Avenue. The force blew out the back window of a car and filled it with water.
A nearby home had minor to moderate damage to its entryway, bathroom and living room because of water seepage. Crews from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power turned off the water. About 12 homes were affected.
Water service was restored by 9 a.m.
Another break was reported around 2:30 a.m. about three blocks away in Chatsworth, near Chatsworth Street and Fullbright Avenue. Crews were letting the water flow into a catch basin. Crews said they were waiting for daylight to start fixing the pipe.
"We're doing our best to keep these pipes in order. The nature of the business, the pipes do break, so this is kind of a natural occurence. We dispatch crews as needed and we try to restore the service to our customers," said Mike Nine with the LADWP.
Twenty-eight customers remain without water. Crews are hoping to have full restoration by mid-afternoon.
