PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- About 150 people turned out Monday night for a public meeting on the 710 Freeway expansion to Pasadena.
The controversial expansion proposed by Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials involves deciding whether a tunnel, connecting the 10 Freeway to the 210 Freeway, should complete the 710 Freeway.
The goal is to help relieve traffic congestion in the Pasadena neighborhood. The Pasadena City Council decided not to oppose the plan, because voters supported the extension in a 2001 initiative.
But the council did vote to send a letter to Metro officials, letting them know about truck traffic concerns and potential environmental issues. The council also wants to do its own analysis of the project.
There are other options up for debate including a light-rail line from the East Los Angeles Civic Center to the Fillmore Gold Line Station, and a rapid bus route from Alhambra to Pasadena.
